'HELLZA DROPPIN', sets ready for a precision bombing mission. Each 82nd FG squadron had its own ' Droop Snoot ' with a crew of 2. Lt. James Small, a former B-24 bomber pilot and Lt. Allan J. Scheckwitz, as bombardier. The 96th FS crew of 2, included: Lt. Albert Luetzow, also a former B-24 pilot and Lt. Robert 'Andy' Anderson as bombardier. The 97th FS crew of 2, included: Lt. Ed Leszcynksi as pilot and Lt. Richard E. 'Dick' Gadbury as bombardier. The typical P-38 nose guns were replaced with a plexiglass nose for the bombardier, who lies on his stomach, to handle the 'precision' bombing mission.
